Social media platform Reddit is reportedly testing a feature that would allow its users to set their own non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, as their profile pictures. The feature is currently being tested internally, though it may already be semi-public, according to a company spokesperson. According to TechCrunch, the NFT implementation is still in its very early stage and has not been made available to public users on the site. “We’re always exploring ways to provide value for users and communities on Reddit. At the moment we’re testing the ability to use NFTs as profile pictures (avatars) and verify ownership. It’s a small, internal test and no decisions have been made about expanding or rolling out the capability,” said Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt. Reddit has been experimenting with various initiatives around NFTs and has even set up a dedicated page for NFT-related activities at nft.reddit.com. For now, the page is mostly focused on CryptoSnoos, which are Reddit’s own digital collectibles. The new NFT test was first spotted by app developer Nima Owji who found a banner referencing the project on Reddit’s web app. It appeared at the top of the main pages of Reddit’s communities but wasn’t shown to Reddit’s users.
