Coinbase App Rises to Top of App Store After Super Bowl Ad

The Coinbase app has shot up from 186th place to second spot in the Apple App Store thanks to its historic Super Bowl LVI ad screening on Sunday. Among financial apps, Coinbase holds the No. 1 position in the US App Store. Coinbase’s Iconic Super Bowl Ad Coinbase’s iconic 60-second commercial features a multicolored QR code jumping up and down a black screen, evoking memories of the bouncing DVD logo, only to be replaced by the firm’s logo. When scanned, the code takes first-time users to Coinbase’s promotional website, allowing them to claim $15 worth of free Bitcoin and existing users for a $3 million Bitcoin giveaway. However, the game’s estimated 117 million audiences crashed the app shortly after some users signed up for the free giveaway. The offer is valid until February 15, however many new users may have trouble redeeming their credit after Coinbase’s app crashed due to the huge influx of traffic. In fact, a company spokesperson recently revealed that the iconic QR code landing page got a whopping 20 million hits within just one minute of the ad airing. Reportedly, the 30-second Super Bowl LVI ad cost around $6.5 million-$7 million with Coinbase booking the ad slot for a whopping $14 million.
