Hut 8 Mining bitcoin production inches up to 132 in April

Hut 8 Mining ( NASDAQ: HUT ) produced 132 bitcoins ( BTC-USD ) in April, up slightly from the 131 tokens logged in March, the miner said Tuesday. High energy input levels at its Drumheller, Alberta site have been causing equipment failures that have reduced operations, which are currently at ~15% of its installed hashrate at the site. Installed ASIC hashrate capacity at the Alberta facilities was 2.6 exahash per second at the end of April. The company, in turn, started implementing firmware across all miner models designed to lower the power supply's maximum output voltage, it said. The site is expected to be restored in 10-12 weeks. "We are very aware of the impact that the issues at Drumheller are having on the broader business: they are complex and challenging, but we have made meaningful progress and have a roadmap to remediation," said HUT 8 CEO Jaime Leverton. As of April 30, the company held 9,265 self-mined BTC in reserve, compared with 9,133 in the prior month. Unlike some peers, HUT did not sell any BTC during the month.
