Tune Talk Software Hacked, Customers Receive ‘Bitcoin Investment’ Alerts

Fraudsters are becoming more and more interested in cryptocurrency users as the industry grows. Hackers have now appeared to have turned to Malaysia’s biggest mobile network operator, Tune Talk, to attempt to con people out of their Bitcoin (BTC). As some users noticed on August 19, customers of the Tune Talk app, the leading mobile prepaid mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in Malaysia, have started receiving push notifications inviting them to double their Bitcoin deposits. Users are alerting one another of a potential breach in the official app and telling each other to ignore the notification unless they want to go bankrupt. This fraud is also becoming popular on Twitter. The impacted individuals have shared photos of the deceitful notifications appearing on both networks. The messages claim the recipients have won some “competition” and are therefore entitled to double their Bitcoin if they click on the notice and transfer their Bitcoin to an e-wallet. Responses To The Tune Talk Breach Nantha Arumugam, chief operating officer of Tune Talk, stated in an interview, “We are aware that the latest app notification may have been compromised.
