Hackers Used a Deepfake of Binance CCO for Exchange Listing Scams

The techniques of hackers and scammers are evolving as they incorporate more technological tools into their operations. Patrick Hillmann, the chief communications officer (CCO) of Binance, revealed last week that hackers had exploited his image in a unique and complex listing fake scheme. In a Zoom meeting, members of numerous cryptocurrency projects were scammed by an AI hologram of Hillmann. According to the Binance CCO, who claimed that hackers were able to manipulate the hologram. These projects were duped into believing that Hillmann was a part of the scheme and that they were being evaluated for the listing process at Binance. These members wrote to Hillmann to thank him for his assistance in the alleged listing possibilities, and Hillmann responded, which led to the discovery of the listing scam. However, he was unaware of these meetings since he is not involved in the listing process at Binance. Hillmann did not reveal the names of the targeted cryptocurrency projects or the amount invested in the alleged listing services.
