The Polygon zkEVM Public Testnet, an “Ethereum-equivalent” infrastructure with cross-compatibility to current smart contracts, toolchains, and wallets created on Ethereum and Polygon PoS, has been launched by the decentralized Ethereum scaling network Polygon. The future of Ethereum is #onPolygon.🦄💫 When we unveiled Polygon #zkEVM in July, it was a milestone not only for Polygon, but also for Ethereum & Web3. We're proud to announce Polygon zkEVM Public Testnet, the world's 1st open source zkEVM network!https://t.co/bfrFr8XwK8 — Polygon – MATIC 💜 (@0xPolygon) October 10, 2022 zkEVM – A Layer-2 Extension A layer-2 extension built on top of Ethereum called the Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) seeks to increase sustainability by merging multiple transfers into a single transaction. The testnet was introduced as a fully functional, open-source implementation of zkEVM by Polygon’s zero-knowledge R&D team. Aave, Uniswap, Lens (a Web3 social network), and Midnight Society, a game development company, will be some of the first projects to launch on the zkEVM testnet. zk-Prover Mechanism As the platform leads the implementation of zk technology, Polygon urges Web3 developers to cooperate by releasing contracts and detecting issues. Developers may switch to zkEVM, which also contains a fully open-sourced zk-Prover mechanism, without needing to learn new programming languages and tools or translate existing code due to ...
