Intel has announced plans to launch Bitcoin mining chips on Friday which the company claims to be 1000x better in performance than today’s GPU or SHA256-based mining equipment. In addition, the new chip has also been designed to focus on sustainability which is why they have designed on “developing the most energy-efficient computing technologies at scale.” “Intel will engage and promote an open and secure blockchain ecosystem and will help advance this technology in a responsible and sustainable way,” the announcement post explained. Jack Dorsey’s Block Among The First Clients According to the company’s roadmap, the first product will ship later this year. The company also announced the launch of Intel’s blockchain accelerator where firms such as Jack Dorsey’s Block (formerly Square), Argo Blockchain, and Griid will be the first to receive it.
