While some bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) miners continue to offload their mining machines to free up capital, CleanSpark ( NASDAQ: CLSK ) said Thursday it expects to pay $32.3M for 20K of new Bitmain Antminer S19j Pro+ rigs after adjusting for a 25% discount . That's equivalent to a $13.25 per terrahash (computing power), trailing the $15.09 per TH market price, according to Luxor Technologies' price index . Clearly CLSK is taking advantage of the still-distressed BTC mining space stemmed from depressed BTC prices and elevated energy costs. It did the same thing back in November 2022, when the collapse of crypto exchange FTX ( FTT-USD ) roiled markets. Upon installation, the units are expected to add 2.44 exahashes per second to the company's existing 6.6 EH/s of mining capacity, it said. Deliveries are set to start as early as March. 15K of the rigs were planned to be deployed at CleanSpark's ( CLSK ) Washington, Georgia, facility, which it acquired in August and is undergoing an expansion in terms of mining capacity. During January, CleanSpark ( CLSK ) said it mined 50% more bitcoins in January vs. December.
