In the largest crypto Series B funding round held in Africa to date, the crypto exchange firm VALR raised $50 million. Pantera Capital, Alameda Research, Coinbase Venture, Avon Ventures were among the firms that join investors including crypto exchange Bittrex and 4Di Capital. Earlier, the firm has raised $3.4 million in Series A funding in 2020. The exchange claims that to date they have processed more than 7.5 Billion USD in trading activity. The crypto firm also boasts of its 2,50,000 retail consumers and 500 institutional international clients. The objective of VALR after the fresh funding is to expand their firm across Africa and into the Indian marketplace as well. It plans to adopt traditional financial institutions – banks, insurers, hedge funds.
