German luxury designer Philipp Plein, whose online store started accepting cryptocurrencies in August has launched a new “crypto concept store” at his London flagship to enable crypto payments in 25 leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). “We Take Crypto” The crypto concept store reportedly looks like a regular Philipp Plein luxury boutique at first glance, but there are “we take crypto” signs and QR codes next to the products. Apart from paying in any one of the 25 cryptocurrencies the label accepts, visitors can also find The M.O.N.A. (Museum of NFT Art), above the store’s main retail selling space, described as “the first physical art gallery of the metaverse.” There customers can see a mega screen that projects Plein Plaza, the land bought for $1.4 million in the virtual world of Decentraland to introduce them to the metaverse, create their own avatars or shop from the brand’s NFT marketplace. Philipp Plein is a Bitcoiner Himself If successful, the crypto concept store will be rolled out to Plein’s 100 other outlets around the world in the next two weeks. Philipp Plein further added that the firm’s overall online retail turnover last year was about €100 million and about 3% of that came from crypto. “We can double that this year”, he added. The designer himself is a crypto enthusiast and personally owns 170 Bitcoin, worth about $6.6 million at current prices. The post Luxury Designer Philipp Plein...
