Citadel teams up with Virtu Financial to form crypto trading ecosystem - CoinDesk

Trading firm Citadel Securities is partnering with high frequency trading firm Virtu Financial (NASDAQ:VIRT) to build a "cryptocurrency trading ecosystem," a source with knowledge on the matter told CoinDesk on Tuesday. Venture capital firms Sequoia Capital and Paradigm will also help construct the decentralized marketplace and additional wealth managers and market makers are expected to join Citadel's initial consortium ahead of launch, the person added, as reported by CoinDesk. “This marketplace is intended to create more efficient access to deep pools of liquidity for digital assets. So a group of industry leaders are working closely together to facilitate the safe, clean, compliant and secure trading of digital assets,” the source told CoinDesk. Moreover, the marketplace is "more of a crypto trading ecosystem or marketplace than an exchange. It’s going to take on the exchanges by building a better mousetrap,” the source added.
