El Salvador has purchased an additional 80 bitcoin (BTC) worth $1.5 million at $19,000 each, President Nayib Bukele said on Thursday. Thank you for selling cheap,” followed by a winking emoji. He also shared screenshots of what appears to be a list of purchases for 1 bitcoin each at the $19,000 price, with timestamps indicating the purchases occurred earlier this morning. It brings the total amount of BTC held by the Central American country to 2,381 worth $46 million, at the time of writing. However, the country is down around 55% on its investments, according to the Nayib tracker, which hasn’t included this latest purchase yet.
