Polygon tokens surge 21% after joining Disney's Accelerator program

Polygon (MATIC-USD) coins are soaring 21% in Thursday afternoon trading after the scalable blockchain network joined Walt Disney's (NYSE:DIS) 2022 Accelerator program, according to a release dated June 13.Of the six company's chosen to participate in the program, Polygon (MATIC-USD) was the only blockchain-powered platform to be selected. This year's Accelerator program, which kicks off in the week ended July 15, is being purposed towards accelerating "the growth of innovative companies from around the world" and developing the future of immersive experiences and specializes in technologies such as augmented reality ("AR"), non-fungible tokens ("NFTs"), and artificial intelligence ("AI") characters," Disney said.Over the course of the program, each participating company will receive guidance from the senior leadership team at Disney (DIS), in addition to an executive mentor, the release noted. Perhaps the rally in Polygon (MATIC-USD) comes as ethereum (ETH-USD) is jumping nearly 10% as of around 3:00 p.m. ET since Polygon is a scaling tool that runs alongside ether. Towards the end of June, crypto exchange Coinbase let users transact crypto on Polygon.
