The largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, a blockchain ecosystem, has named Yi He as the new director of Binance Labs, its venture capital (VC) arm and incubator. As a founding team member, Yi has been actively involved in Labs since its inception. It has been instrumental in identifying early-stage projects and founders with the vision and drive to disrupt those international institutions that no longer effectively serve society, according to CZ (Changpeng Zhao), CEO of Binance. According to a news release, Binance Labs, which specializes in early-stage investments, manages $7.5 billion in total assets across more than 200 portfolio projects. Portfolio firms include the security company CertiK, the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, and the Ethereum sidechain Polygon. Yi He Joined Binance in 2017 Yi, who joined Binance right before its 2017 launch, will be in charge of Binance Labs’ daily operations and global strategy, emphasizing advancing infrastructure initiatives and enhancing utility in cryptocurrency and blockchain projects. She will continue her work with the parent company, including institutional businesses, marketing, Binance P2P, and Earn.
