According to statistics from Etherscan, Temple DAO, a system that asserts it offers sustainable revenue through staking, had a destructive exploit on one of its staking vaults for 1,830 ETH, or around $2.3 million at the moment. A volunteer claimed on the Temple DAO Discord channel that the project’s CORE vaults, which contain more than $100 million in stablecoins, are untouched, preventing further damage. A statement issued on the Temple DAO Discord stated that the withdrawal was exactly 1,418,303 TEMPLE and 1,362,438 FRAX. Recently, $2 million was stolen by a hacker through the WANplatform cross-chain bridge. The Temple DAO Exploit According to a tweet from Blockchain security company Paladin the Temple DAO attack is linked to a non-bridge-related smart contract vulnerability. Due to various malpractices in one of the staking mechanisms, users can transfer staked tokens from an earlier contract because of this attack. The exploiter used a fake address to run this function, which enabled them to withdraw all the money from the vault to themselves rather than the new contract. The flaw is one of the most simple exploits at scale. The vu...
